Lauren tattled on Audrey yesterday: "MOM! AUDREY IS BEING BAD AND SHE KNOWS IT IS BAD BUT SHE KEEPS DOING IT AND NOW SHE IS SMILING!! MOM! MAKE HER STOP SMILING ABOUT IT!" I still don't know what she was doing in the first place! Ha!
Eventually, Lauren forgave Audrey for her naughty smiling and decided to teach her how to play hide and seek. Audrey totally loved it! Lauren is so good with her- Lauren would count and Audrey would run under the table (she hid in the same place every single time!) and then Lauren would make a big show of wandering all over the house looking for her. Big time suspense! See the serious baby? (With brownies on her face!)
We didn't leave the house yesterday! We were all dressed and ready to go to the library and then Sid the Science Kid was about getting shots so I decided we should stay and watch it (getting a shot is a huge fear for Lauren- she hyperventilates and almost passes out whenever she thinks about it- just thinking about it ruins the day. I blame the cortisone shots she had to get in her neck when her burn scar was turning into a keloid. Even with lidocane those shots were painful. And I have no good plan for getting her up to date on immunizations before school starts. I am Scarlett O'Hara-ing that problem: thinking about it tomorrow!) Anyway, we watched the show and then talked about shots and after she calmed down it was already lunch time and we never left!
Dinner was a big gross fail. We were out of pizza toppings so I used regular bacon and let me save you some time if you ever consider that. It's not good at all. I told the kids that food is just fuel for your body so you can do fun things, which is my standard line when my cooking doesn't turn out.
Anyway, it's good that we had a nice restful day because today is going to be crazy. I have extra work appointments and no sitter so Audrey is accompanying me to work while Lauren is at school. It will be fun! My current project is room scheduling for the tech college and I need to do a walking tour of campus and record some data, so Audrey will ride in the stroller with the laptop on top of the sunshade for me to update the spreadsheet. We practiced in the garage and it was fine. And music lessons and carpooling and library and conference calls and then, very late tonight, after last call, Mike gets home! Yay! I missed him and I think he missed us too, it was hard to tell from all the happy texts we got from cool breweries and other fabulous places. I think he wants to stay in Portland! Not surprised- see, I watch House Hunters so I am totally a Portland expert and I like it too, from afar! Maybe next time I will go along as "& spouse." Lets work on that. (Mom, don't you think you would like to retire and come watch the grandbabies? I think that would be best for the Portland brewery....)
